Philosophy of Ministry

1. Theological Foundations & Divine Call

Upholding the New Testament doctrine of ministry has fostered within me a deep passion for helping God’s people discover, develop, and utilize their unique spiritual gifts for the building up of the Body of Christ and Kingdom service. I view mentoring and discipleship as primary means for receiving and passing on God’s blessings. All members of the Body of Christ are called to fulfill the Great Commission (Mt. 28:16–20; Mk. 16:15–18; Lk. 24:44–49; Jn. 20:19–23, 21:15–23; Acts 1:8).

I have experienced a clear, divine call to full-time gospel ministry in the service of Jesus Christ. This call has unfolded in the role of pastor/teacher according to the five-fold description in Scripture. I currently serve a local congregation as pastor and willingly submit myself to the leadership of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church, recognizing that accountability is essential to healthy ministry.

2. Pastoral Care & Pneumatology

My ultimate desire is to offer maximum service to the local church. Plainly stated, I view the pastor’s role as ministering God’s grace and love to those in need, harboring a passion to see people come to Christ, and helping them continuously grow in Him.

  • Evangelism & Recovery: It is my passion to lead the lost into a relationship with Jesus Christ and disciple them into maturity. Having been delivered from the bondage of alcoholism over thirty eight years ago, I carry a specific burden for helping those who desire freedom and recovery.

  • Presence & Crisis Care: I take crisis ministry and hospital visitations seriously.

  • Spirit-Led Ministry: I believe firmly in the power and present-day gifts of the Holy Spirit to transform lives and edify the Body of Christ. I desire to see an authentic move of the Holy Spirit welcomed in public worship, believing that signs and wonders evidence the Spirit ministering through believers as they yield to Him.

3. Personal Spiritual Growth & Integrity

Recognizing that integrity is essential to ministry, I prioritize my personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ above all else. The depth of my relationship with God will always speak louder than any word or deed performed apart from Him.

Daily devotions, spiritual renewal, and times of enrichment are necessary to maintain and deepen my walk with Christ. My strength flows directly from the Lord, who showers me with His love; it is through the continual infilling of the Holy Spirit that I can freely offer others what He has given to me.

4. Family & Personal Stewardship

I view my wife as my partner in ministry and my closest friend. I am devoted to her and our children, believing the family unit is the foundational building block of a successful ministry.

  • Headship & Marriage: I accept the responsibility to lead my home lovingly and sacrificially (1 Cor. 11:3; Eph. 5:33). My wife’s needs take priority over my own, and she is worthy of my kindness and ongoing availability (Col. 3:19; 1 Pet. 3:7; Eph. 5:21).

  • Parenting: I accept the call to provide spiritual training for my children, loving and disciplining them without being overly severe (Deut. 6:6ff; Prov. 22:6; Eph. 6:4; Col. 3:21; Tit. 2:4).

  • Healthy Boundaries: Recognizing that crisis ministry can pull from family time, I actively maintain boundaries to balance ministerial duties with family devotion.

  • Holistic Stewardship: Knowing I was bought with the precious blood of Jesus Christ, I strive to honor God in how I eat, dress, exercise, speak, and manage resources (Col. 3:17). Everything belongs to Him, and I joyfully tithe and give offerings in faithful stewardship.

5. Vision & Ongoing Growth

I carry a vision to see God’s amazing grace poured out and His forgiveness received by those who suffer. Driven by the urgency of Christ’s Second Coming, my goal is to be fully surrendered to His cause. To serve God and neighbor at the highest standard, I actively seek ongoing ministry preparation through formal education, spiritual retreats, and Christian conferences.

Philosophy of Teaching

Core Educational Beliefs

As an educator, my framework is built on the conviction that every student is unique, possesses innate value, and is capable of academic success when equipped with the right tools. I believe diversity should be celebrated and that students learn best in safe environments where they experience genuine respect and acceptance.

My primary objective is to create a high-quality environment that fosters academic excellence while helping students reach their full potential. To achieve this, I actively refine my teaching strategies, adapt instruction to diverse learning styles, and pursue continuous professional development.

Character & Pedagogy

The mere transfer of cognitive knowledge is insufficient on its own; God commands us to love one another. Therefore, modeling, encouraging, and demonstrating mutual respect and compassion among students is essential to my teaching practice.

  • Relational & Ethical Approach: Colleagues and students describe me as trustworthy, approachable, responsible, ethical, and courteous—qualities I cherish.

  • Leadership & Drive: I am a self-starter, problem solver, and catalyst for excellence. I am motivated by making a positive contribution, whether stepping into leadership roles or supporting an organization’s mission as a team member.

Core Pillars of Teaching

While I unapologetically affirm the historic Christian faith as outlined in the ecumenical creeds and evangelical Protestantism—and cherish the freedom of religion championed by our nation’s founders—my practical educational philosophy rests on four key pillars:

  1. Inherent Worth: Every student is a person of immense value to society. Regardless of limitations, every individual can contribute something positive to others.

  2. Relational Foundation: Teaching apart from relationship is unproductive. I intentionally build professional, accessible relationships where students feel comfortable seeking assistance.

  3. Optimal Learning Environment: The physical and emotional atmosphere must always be conducive to learning, allowing students to perform at their highest capacity.

  4. Family as the Foundation: The family unit is a critical building block for both education and a meaningful life. Student success is vastly enhanced when supported by family, a principle I uphold personally through deep devotion to my wife and children.
